What Is GovRAMP?
GovRAMP (formerly StateRAMP) is a nonprofit program that gives state and local governments one shared cloud security standard, built on NIST SP 800-53 Rev. 5. Agencies use a provider’s GovRAMP status to decide whose products they can buy.

The entry point. Providers submit security evidence and receive a Snapshot score that shows agencies how far along their program is. Progressing is not a final status.

A verified milestone confirming 60 foundational security controls, reviewed by the GovRAMP PMO. A 3PAO assessment is not required to reach Core, and Core products appear on the Authorized Product List.

The higher verification levels. Both require an independent assessment by an accredited Third Party Assessment Organization (3PAO).
How We Help
Komplement manages your GovRAMP journey from your first Snapshot to verified Core status, then hands you off cleanly to a 3PAO when you are ready for a Ready or Authorized assessment.

Each quarterly Snapshot must show measurable progress. A high score on its own does not meet the requirement.

Every artifact you submit must be refreshed at least once every 12 months to stay valid.

Identical or declining scores can start a three-step escalation: an informal discussion, a formal notice, then possible removal from the Progressing Product List.
Why It Matters Now
Since January 1, 2026, products on the GovRAMP Progressing Product List must show improvement every quarter. Flat or declining Snapshot scores can trigger escalation and removal from the list, and many providers do not know it yet.
